It all started with a battery we plugged in at home.
Ordered from abroad, quick to arrive, well packed. Then we looked closely.
It could deliver 2.5 kW where Switzerland allows 600 on a socket. Its plug did not fit a Swiss socket without an adapter. And there was not one document to show the grid operator, even though written notification is mandatory before commissioning. Technically a good battery. Legally a battery that had no right to be plugged in.
In the event of a claim it is neither the manufacturer nor the online shop that answers, it is the owner of the home. And under the Federal Act on Insurance Contracts (ICA), the insurer may reduce its payment in proportion to the gravity of the fault.
Batteries in that state are plugged in every day in Switzerland. They are a few clicks away, the price is attractive, and nobody warns the buyer about what is missing. We decided to sell the other version: the same battery, prepared for Switzerland, with the paperwork.
How we choose what we sell
The home storage market puts out dozens of models a year, and the datasheets all promise the same thing. Our method is hands-on: spot what stands out, buy it at the public price, plug it in and live with it. Every model goes through that before we decide to sell it. The one that holds up to its figures joins the catalogue. The others go back.
That is also why the catalogue is short: 16 models, not three hundred. Each is there because we could explain to you, product in hand, why that one and not another.
What "prepared for Switzerland" means here
Power is capped at 600 W before dispatch. The adapter for the Swiss 13 A socket is in the box. So are the manufacturer’s declaration of conformity and the cell safety data sheet. And the notification form for your grid operator arrives pre-filled: you sign it, you send it, done.
The hardest work is invisible: getting the battery to talk to Swiss meters, an estate that resembles no other. We do it directly with the manufacturer’s engineers, model by model. It is slow, it is technical, and it is exactly the work nobody will do for you.

Voltika is a Swiss brand operated by Ecobusiness Sàrl, distributing the products of the manufacturer Marstek in French-speaking Switzerland: all of Switzerland. We are a small team, which has one very practical advantage: whoever answers you knows the product, the rules and your file.
